Many don’t know this! Wise stories from an 82-year-old woman about the female body
Puebla, Mexico – Seated in a wooden rocking chair, her skin wrinkled by time but her eyes shining with lucidity, 82-year-old Doña Eulalia Ramírez has dedicated her entire life to observing, caring for, and reflecting on the female body. Without ever having set foot in a university, her words carry more weight than many books, for they spring from experience, intuition, and ancestral wisdom.

Every afternoon, surrounded by young neighbors who come to her for advice, Doña Eulalia shares stories and truths that many are unaware of but that every woman should hear .
“A woman’s body is not just for giving life or for pleasing. It is a temple, and like any temple, it needs respect, care, and silence to listen to itself,” she repeats firmly.
One of the stories that has most impacted those who hear it concerns the healing power of the womb . According to her, emotions that a woman does not express, especially deep sadness and old fears, accumulate in that sacred part of her body .
“I have seen how women get sick in their wombs from carrying guilt, from not crying as much as they needed to cry, or from staying in places where their soul was no longer,” she says while caressing a sprig of rue.

Another powerful lesson she shares is about menstruation . For her, it’s not a punishment or an inconvenience, but a way for the body to purify itself. “When you bleed, your body speaks to you. It tells you that you are alive, that you are cyclical, that every month you can start anew. Don’t look at it with disgust, look at it with pride.”
Doña Eulalia also recalls how in her time women knew how to listen to their bodies , something that today, she says, many have forgotten because of stress, unrealistic standards and disconnection from nature.
“The body warns you when something is wrong. It tells you with pain, insomnia, and anxiety. But today they silence it with pills. And sometimes all it takes is talking, walking barefoot, or hugging a tree,” she says.
Many of her recipes and recommendations come from her grandmother, who taught her how to prepare infusions with chamomile, cinnamon, rue, and basil to relieve colic, regulate the cycle, and even heal a wounded soul.

But perhaps the most powerful lesson from Doña Eulalia is this:
“Your body doesn’t need to look like anyone else’s. It doesn’t need to be perfect. It just needs you to love it and listen to it. It’s yours, and that already makes it sacred.”
Today, in an era where there is much talk about female empowerment in the media, the voice of this humble old woman resonates with a special strength , because it comes from the root, from the depths of the earth and the heart.
Many don’t know it… but they should listen to it.
