Singer-actress Frenchie Dy took to social media to share that she suffered from her third Bell’s palsy attack.
In a video she uploaded on Facebook, Frenchie said that she had a change in taste while having lunch with her husband.
Following this, while she was drinking water, she felt the liquid dripping down her face, making her realize that she was having another attack.
Frenchie immediately went to the hospital, confirming that she was indeed experiencing another Bell’s palsy attack.
Bell’s palsy is a disease that causes partial paralysis or weakness of the facial muscle on one side of the face, according to PinoyMD. Those with this condition experience symptoms of varying degrees, such as drooping of the face, one-sided or lopsided smiles, eye twitching, and more. It occurs suddenly and immediately, and may last from three weeks to five months, sometimes even up to a year.
In her following video, Frenchie turned emotional.
“Pinanghihinaan ako ng loob. Pero I know na maraming nagpe-pray for me. Nandito anak ko, andiyan ang asawa ko, nandiyan ‘yung mga anak ko, my friends, lahat ng sumusuporta sa ‘kin nandiyan, so kaya ko ‘to. Laban lang,” she said.
She also thanked the doctors and nurses who helped her.
Frenchie also showed the medicines she’s taking, including vitamin B complex, steroids, and pain reliever.
In following posts, Frenchie shared updates on her therapy session and the at-home massages she does.
She also shared an impressive video of herself singing “Go the Distance” despite feeling discomfort in the affected area.
“Mahirap man ang HAMON, dapat lumaban. Salamat sa Diyos, nakakakanta pa rin ako. Medyo nakakabingi lang pero it’s getting better,” she said. —Carby Rose Basina/JCB, GMA Integrated New
