MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) on Thursday said it had recorded six volcanic earthquakes from Kanlaon Volcano in the past 24 hours.
In its morning bulletin, the state volcanologist said it released 2,078 tons of sulfur dioxide.
Kanlaon Volcano also emitted a 200-meter-high plume that drifted in a west and southwest direction, and the volcano’s edifice remained inflated.
Alert level 3 (magmatic unrest) remains hoisted over the volcano.
Kanlaon Volcano erupted around 2:44 a.m. on Tuesday, which lasted for five minutes based on seismic and infrasound data.
It was on April 8 when Kanlaon Volcano last erupted, producing a voluminous, bent plume approximately 4,000 meters tall. /das
