
MANILA, Philippines — Former President Rodrigo Duterte, who was arrested on Tuesday under a warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for his crimes against humanity case, has been detained at the ICC Detention Centre in Schevingen, The Hague.
Duterte was detained shortly after arriving at Rotterdam The Hague Airport on a chartered flight on Wednesday at around 11:55 p.m. (PH time).
- Duterte boarded a chartered Gulfstream G550 aircraft with tail number RP-C5219 at Villamor Air Base at around 11 p.m. on Tuesday.
- The plane made a fueling stop in Dubai, where it was delayed for more than seven hours waiting for air-space clearance.
- The PNP arrested the former president at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) on his return from Hong Kong, where he, accompanied by his daughter Vice President Sara Duterte, had a sortie among overseas Filipino workers.
- Malacañang Palace confirmed the ICC issuance of the arrest warrant.
- Duterte was taken to Villamor Air Base, where he was detained until his chartered flight for the Netherlands was ready.
